Full-Time Temporary Position

(Commencing Immediately for One Year with Possibility of Extension)

The PEI Department of Finance and Treasury Board Secretariat aims to encourage the development of an innovative, diverse and inclusive workforce, which enables the organization to realize its goals. The position of Supervisor, Infrastructure Support is responsible for supervising a team of employees who are involved in the planning, design, and implementation of the IT elements of capital and operational projects throughout the province. This position is responsible for coordination, facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution with employees throughout IT Shared Services, clients, vendors, consultants, and executives. This position is also responsible for eliciting requirements, recommendations, issues, and risks, associated with proposed/active projects, and the province’s strategic IT direction. All staff are client driven, working towards maximizing the return on IT investment.

Job duties include:

– Manage staff workload to maximize team productivity, while ensuring efficient and prioritized use of technical resources when assigning staff to projects, tasks, overtime, working groups, and training;

– Facilitate prioritization of conflicting projects and tasks; and work with staff, project managers and IT consultants, management, and clients to maximize resource utilization based on those priorities;

– Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate resolution of work assignments, issues, or risks that are preventing the productive and efficient execution of project activities;

– Provide briefing notes, status updates, and client communication that summarizes technical information in an understandable, accessible language;

– Validate technical design recommendations, options, budgets, schedules, tools, configurations, issues, and risks;

– Create, evaluate, and award tenders for the purchase of goods and services and issue associated purchase orders;

– Lead, train, coach, and mentor Infrastructure Support staff in the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT processes, standards, procurement, records management, regulations, contacts, technologies, and best practices;

– Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

– University Degree or Diploma with major course work in either Server or Network infrastructure, or a discipline related to the position;

– Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;

– Leadership or supervisory experience is essential;

– Minimum 3 years of related experience in the IT industry and extensive experience supporting complex network, server, storage, backup, security, and end-user infrastructure;

– Must have use of a reliable vehicle on a daily basis with appropriate insurance coverage;

– Experience creating technical designs, business cases, proposals, briefing notes, and status reports;

– Significant interpersonal, conflict resolution, facilitation, coordination, and communication skills;

– Experience managing project and task resource assignments, allocations, trends, priorities, and conflicts, as well as project management and business analysis knowledge will be considered a substantial asset;

– Applicants must have a good previous work and attendance record. The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment;

– Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.

Salary Range: $32.81 – $41.01 per hour (Level 18 UPSE)

Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours bi-weekly
